Should Your Office Invest In “Napping Pods”?

The concept of naps is usually relegated to small children, but naps are just as important for adults. We call them “power naps” and there’s a reason for it. In the middle of the day, a quick nap can typically give you the “power” to push through the rest of work. Even 10-15 minutes can make a significant difference, as power naps have been proven to increase productivity and mood. It may seem strange, however, to allow a team of employees to nap at their desks. That’s where “napping pods” come into play.

Napping pods are small rounded units—somewhat egg-shaped—with cushions for comfort. They can fit one individual with room to curl up and take a quick nap in a (somewhat) soundproof space. While your company certainly doesn’t require a whole series of napping pods, it might be a great idea to invest in a few.

The price for napping pods is around $850, which isn’t a significant amount if your office only purchases a few. They can be placed in a small quiet room, where employees are able to sign up for 15-20 minute naps: one nap each day. The length of time is equivalent to a cigarette or snack break. These short naps can increase focus, benefit optimal health, and improve overall mood. In addition, stressful work environments are often softened by short breather times to recharge. The pods are also a nice “perk” for any organization.
