Many Employers Are Covering Part-Time Workers

Many and mid- companies are extending maid_150401 beyond their - workers to include -timers in their , according to a study by the ADP Research Institute.

About three out five companies with 1,000 or more employees are offering to - workers, even though the Act only requires them to cover those working or more, while about half mid-sized companies are doing so, the found.

“This decision to extend seems to be driven by core reasons,” according to the report. “ say they are doing this in order to attract the talent that they need.”

The majority are not planning to reduce to avoid having to provide to workers. Only about a quarter mid- companies and 40% have either or plan to do so.

Compliance with the , including record-keeping, is “a clear point concern for most ,” ADP found. “A majority both mid-sized and do not feel that they are fully prepared” to handle compliance issues.

One reason, according to ADP, is that many companies don’t have a way to accurately track unpaid leave for such reasons as military , family and medical leave and jury duty.
